Life in the Himalayas

Along the Manaslu Circuit, life unfolds at a different pace.
Days are shaped by altitude, weather, and the rhythm of walking. Villages appear gradually along the trail — built from stone, wood, and necessity — standing firm against wind, cold, and time.

The people who live here adapt to a demanding landscape. Daily routines revolve around farming, herding, trade, and the constant movement of people passing through. Tradition remains visible in clothing, architecture, and ritual, while modern influences slowly find their way into even the most remote valleys.

With this series I wanted to visually document everyday life along this remote part of the world. It focuses on small moments in the backdrop of grand scenery: work at dawn, quiet interactions and pauses. The mountains are always present, not as a spectacle, but as a condition of life — shaping how people move, work, and connect.

These photographs were made while traveling through the region, observing rather than directing. They aim to reflect the resilience, simplicity, and humanity found along the trail, where life continues between passes, seasons, and generations.
